Yucky, Thy Name is Coconut

About a week ago, the kids were at the grocery store with Tony and they saw a coconut in the produce section. VERY curious about the round, fuzzy thing. So Tony, being so great at introducing the kids to new things (I'm much more squeamish), bought one for the kids to enjoy. Yesterday, after FINALLY getting the dang thing open with an awl and a hammer (but no cursing because, well, it was Sunday after all), we milked the coconut and gave each of the kids a sip. Needless to say, we threw the whole thing away.

That reminds me of our own private beach we found in Hawaii. I love their little faces. Guess you can't win them all. I can just hear Sam, the first Survivor contestant to ever say, "Um, no thank you!"

LOVES!

Wow... the irony... Manjula chopped up a coconut and we were snacking on it after school for a snack like carrot sticks. I will admit, however, that fruits and vegetables are SOOOO much better on "organic" side of the World! ...and coconut milk isn't my favorite either. How cute!

It is so funny because we tease Kalani about not liking coconuts and he is Hawaiian.
