Displaying Cards and Keepsaking Pictures

If you are like me, one of the best parts of the Holiday season is the sending and receiving of Christmas cards. But with every move, our list gets longer and longer, and in our new home, there isn't a practical way to display the cards and photos of our friends that come with their holiday greetings. So I came up with a plan this year. I bought a medium sized hurricane jar at Target and placed it on the table in my entry. I can see all the cards in there, but they are orderly and contained.

As a scrapbooker at heart, I can't seem to throw our friends' Christmas photos away! So this year, I bought a 8 1/2" by 8 1/2" album and a set of Making Memories papers and embellishments (saved me time trying to match everything) and am placing the photos in our little scrapbook as they come in, starting with our family Christmas photo.

That way, they are displayed, and I won't be overwhelmed with photos at the end of the season! Plus, we'll be able to enjoy them throughout the year...my kids LOVE to look at the pictures of their friends they miss in Montana!

(Also, today is the last day to get in on my second giveaway...my impartial 6-year-old will be drawing the winner tonight!)

This is a great idea! I never know quite what to do with all the Christmas cards and photos. I usually end up sticking them into a big ziploc bag and storing them each year. I love the idea of putting together a Christmas photo album. Of course, many of the pictures won't have any meaning for the children. They are more my friends (of old) than theirs. :)

We tape our Christmas cards to the wall so everyone can enjoy them. My mom puts hers in a basket by the fireplace. I like the scrapbook idea!

Genius! What a great idea, Amber! Thanks for sharing.

And THANK YOU for my wonderful surprise in the mail yesterday!!!! I adore my door knob hanger (the kids, too - anything witha jingle bell is right up their alley). For some reason I can't send any emails to hotmail addresses (my computer is really out to get me!), and I just coulnd't stand to not thank you right away. So, thank you, Amber. A new decoration/tradition has been added to the mix and I will think of you each year we hang it up. I am so touched by your thougthfulness.

PS - we have a great closet door in our living room that just begs to be covered in Christmas cards - yours is hanging there (stunning, as usual) and I love seeing them each day and then adding the new ones as they come. The cards really are among my favorite things of the season. I lvoe your scrapbook idea, because like you, I can't seem to throw them away either!

Ours are almost on their way! :)

I love it! I started scrapbooking my cards, too. I sometimes just make a pocket in a scrapbook and put them all in it!
