Bowl 'o Josh & New Bracelets

Why do we even buy toys for our children when they sit unused in a corner...in lieu of something never meant as a toy? Case in point. Josh in my stainless steel mixing bowl. No sooner have I wiped it and put it away and he's got it out again. And is sitting in it.

And lookie, lookie what I found on clearance at Target today. A triple strand necklace for $3.74 that is...okay. But a steal at that price. So I brought it home, took it apart, and made these. Three bracelets that I'll wear together.

And MANY thanks to my cousin Amanda for teaching me how to make bracelets all those summers ago.

christian loves my mixing bowls too...although he likes to throw them rather than sit in them. (yeah, bad idea on my part since one is now broken.)

cute bracelets too! what a great idea to re-purpose!

You amaze me! I'd see that necklace and say "nope, not ever gonna wear that" and pass on by. You see potential! You... have VISION!
And DANG! that kids is CUTE!

I was relieved to see your precious son hadn't adopted the necklace as a toy!

My kids always loved bowls and pots and pans when they were little too. They could spend a long time pulling everything out of my cabinets and banging around.

Very clever how you transformed the necklace, by the way.

You are so amazing. I love how your creative mind works! And Josh is so cute. I know what you mean about kids loving non-toy items. Jake's favorite toy is a water bottle.

my son would play with stacks of tupperware all night long if I let him. and he's 3!

as for the bracelets WOW! What a great find and awesome idea. I've tried to make beaded bracelets before, but they always come apart on me. I guess practice makes perfect, but I'm not twisting the wires tight enough!

You are awesome - I love the bracelets more than the necklace, so good move!

Josh in a bowl - I hear ya sista - my girls do the same! Too funny! But that's why we have stopped buying toys and leave that up to the grandparents...then WE are not wasting any money at least...just space!

He looks so much like Sam!!!! That is how I will always remember Sam we have a picture of him looking out our front window when he wasn't too much older than Josh. What a cutie.

I wanted to let you know that I received your package today and I LOVE everything. I hadn't read your e-mail yet so I was really surprised that a bracelet would come in such a large box :) I'm so glad that I won your stuff. I can't wait to try and make my own pinwheels, I think they would be soooo cute on some handmade cards. The dolls are darling and the America pillow is going on my door know right now, I have a couple days left in July right :) Thanks again, I love all of it.

What do you string your beads onto? Wire, thread?
