Road Racin'

Today was my first 5K road race. Ever. I mean, I ran cross country in high school, but that was through the wilds of Alaska, on soft rolling trails, surrounded by beautiful scenery and the occasional moose. So today was a challenge. It was humid. It was hot. And I do, um, (let me think about this for a minute) ALL of my running on my treadmill. Granted, I do run on an incline, but it's different running outside.

But I did it. And I did great. I posted a new personal best by 3 minutes and 35 seconds. And I learned to train at least one day a week outside. But the best thing I learned today is that I have the loudest, cutest, most devoted cheering section. And I finished stronger because they were there cheering me on.

Please pay NO attention to the tall guy that just happens to be finishing the 10K at the exact same time that I am finishing my 5K. He did, after all, start 5 minutes before me...

Wow! I am so impressed. My husband runs marathons, but I'm not sure I could even run around the block. Your pictures are very inspiring, though!

Wow, I am very impressed. I hate running, I mean really hate it. Lately though I've been thinking I should try it, I'd love to be able to say I finished a 5K. I bet it's a great feeling of accomplishment. Somehow saying I work out at Curves just doesn't sound that cool :)

How did you not just have to drag yourself over the finish line? I am working on getting myself ready for a 5K but I fear it will never happen. You did awesome!
