Our Halloween Tree

So, the two big kids had the day off today and so I had the brilliant (BRILLIANT, I tell you!) idea of going to get the stuff for their Halloween costumes. Just me...and all three of them. But it has been accomplished and now we can hunker down for a fun weekend of hanging out together and watching football. My long run is tomorrow, so I even am saving last night's Grey's Anatomy to watch while I hammer it out. So don't tell me what happens.

I wanted to post some pictures of our Halloween tree. It is a 5 foot pre-lit alpine tree that I usually set up in our entry for Christmas, but I dug it out this year, strung it with cobwebs, added some mini primitive jack-o-lanterns ornies, my stars, some sprigs of orange berries, some word ornies that I made with Kristi last week, and some stitcheries from Cedarberry Stitches that I shrunk, stitched, backed with homespun and stuffed. I love the way it turned out. Josh is captivated by the lights and I love that he can see the glow of the lights on his way out of his room after his nap.

How was your Friday?

I have never heard of a Halloween tree before. What fun!
P.S. Thanks for stopping by to check out my new blog. I put up some Halloween decor posts of my own.

I love your tree! Very cute! I also do an Easter tree, among others.

I do a Halloween tree too! I'll post pics up on my blog once I have it up. I wait until October so that I don't get tired of it. ;)

I LOVE your tree. You will love Grey's. I never thought about shrinking the patterns...I am trying that!
I am pooped now after staying up past my bedtime to watch that 2 hour special of Grey's and then teaching Kindergarten today. You have a good idea of hunkering down for a weekend of football and crafts! And the 1st debate tonight!

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've seen a Halloween tree. Looks like it came out nice.

hey- I want to know how you made those cute blocks? did you make them or buy them pre-cut and paint them? did you use rub-ons for the letters? they are soooo cute! I LOVE the way you decorate!!!!

Could you please come to VA and decorate my house for me?? I haven't gotten into the Halloween spirit just yet, I am refusing to beleive that summer is over and fall is upon us. Although the weather here in VA is proving otherwise.
Everything looks so cute!

How we made my word blocks: I bought some wood at Home Depot and then sweet talked a guy there into cutting them into smallish segments for me. We painted, sanded and stained. The words are MM Misunderstood rub-ons.
