Dem Bones

I came across this recipe for bone shaped breadsticks while searching for fun Halloween party food ideas for our family Halloween parties next week. They were easy. And too cute to be spooky. My kids aren't nuts about salty breadsticks, so I buttered ours and added cinnamon sugar.

Salty Bones

1 tube of refrigerated breadstick dough
Coarse salt (or cinnamon sugar)

Unroll a tube of refrigerated breadstick dough and separate the rectangular pieces.
Working with one piece at a time, stretch the dough to lengthen it a bit and then use kitchen scissors or a knife to cut a 11/2-inch slit in the center of each end.
Roll or shape the resulting four flaps of dough into knobs that look like the ends of a bone. Place the dough bones on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart, and sprinkle on a little coarse salt. Bake the bones at 375 degrees until they are light golden brown, about 12 minutes.

So cute! Did you see the adorable mummy wrapped mini hot dogs that Jeni did? I followed a recipe for those in a little book from our commissary and mine looked like crazy messy mummies...not stinkin' adorable like hers or your cute bones!!! I think I might be able to master this one better though girl!!! ;) Happy TGIF day to you~ Les

Fabulous! I'm gonna make these with tomato (blood) soup. I think it will have a nice effect, don't you?
