Thinking Pink

This past week, I had the opportunity to have dinner with some friends, one of whom started a personal battle with breast cancer this past summer. She is a fabulous lady, talented and sweet who is fighting on her own terms, and with graceful dignity.

She shared a couple of really wonderful things with us, each of which help in the fight against breast cancer. The first is through KitchenAid's Cook for the Cure and is called "Pass the Plate." KitchenAid has introduced a gorgeous ceramic plate you purchase and then on which you pass along a home cooked meal to a family member or friend. That friend can then register the plate online and pass along the plate to another family member or friend, who then registers the plate online again. KitchenAid will make a donation for every registered stop all these fabulous plates make. And KitchenAid puts its money where it's mouth is...it has already donated $6 million for breast cancer research.

And for all you other OPI snobs out there, they have introduced Pink of Hearts 2, a nail color that is a pretty pink, to purchase and wear with pride to show your support in the fight against breast cancer. OPI has committed to give $25,000 this year to breast cancer research. I bought mine today.

So I get to have pretty nails AND help the fight against breast cancer. Is there a down side??

Wow...these are great. I am an O.P.I. snob and proud of it...at least now. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful products. Our Enrichment Night is this month and we are focusing on Breast Cancer Awareness. I have a guest speaker coming from the American Cancer Society and everything will be decorated pink!! I really want to help to make a difference after loosing my church mom to cancer in March. It is such a hard thing for these beautiful women to have to go through. Thanks again for sharing and making a difference.

These are so cool! I would want to keep the plate though. I'll have to keep an eye out for that. My MIL (who lost her own mother to breast cancer... that's the grandma that I ran Race 4 the Cure in memory of) collects pink ribbon stuff, so I'll try to pick one up for her.
