Christmas In A Can FHE

I know this is old news to lots of you, but we used our Christmas In A Can for our FHE last night and it was a wonderful experience so I wanted to put it out there to hopefully enrich other families. My dear friend Jen shared this wonderful idea with me and we made these kits as part of our November enrichment meeting and included the story as part of a family home evening lesson. The entire lesson can be found here. Basically, it is the story about Santa sharing the symbols of Christmas and how they each are reminders of Christ. We used a quart-sized paint can to hold our little objects and a folded FHE lesson sheet, decorated the outside and voila.

Part of the lesson encouraged the members of our family to look for the symbols of Christmas in the world around them and remember how these things can remind us of Christ. This morning on the way to school, Sam saw a wreath and shared it's meaning.

Love it.

I know you had to be all tingly inside seeing your little guy share some of the knowledge you shared with him.

I need and Amber file too!

Where did you find the paper you used for the barn star? I loved it. I can't find enough cute paper here in Utah.

Michelle...The paper for my big barn stars is Rusty Pickle's White Christmas Collection and I got it from a local craft store here called Mangelsens. I'm pretty sure you can find it at some of the online scrapbook paper sites...acherryontop, scrapgal, scrappindeals, etc. Basic Greay also has some awesome christmas paper that is also two-sided.:-)

Thanks for sharing! I just pulled out my Christmas decorations and thought of you when I saw all of the amazing things I have purchased from you at Diana's craft sales in Christmases past. We sure miss you.

I had never seen that before! What a wonderful tradition. I'm going to track down the items and make a Christmas in a Can with my family. I have not one ounce of your creativity, but I am one great copycat!

We do this same FHE every year, but I have never seen it in a can. It's beautiful and I think it would make it even more special for my family. Thanks for the idea!

We do this idea on Christmas Eve, but don't use a can. That's a new idea.
