Simplify

I try to be realistic when I make my resolutions on New Year's Eve. Nothing too grandiose or unattainable, and usually just a goal or two. So when I came across Ali Edward's idea of picking a WORD for the New Year...I knew it was something that I wanted to do. Here's how Ali describes it:

"Can you identify a single word that sums up what you want for yourself in 2009?

It can be something tangible or intangible. It could be a thought or a feeling or an emotion. It can be singular or plural. The key is to find something that has personal meaning for you. This is not your mother's word or your spouse's word or your child's word - this is YOUR word."

So, my word for 2009 is simplify. I wish to simplify the way I think, the way I act, the way I serve, the way I work. I want to do my best, but not over complicate or overwhelm myself. As a classic Type-A personality, this may be challenging for a while. But I'm putting my word in all those places I see everyday, knowing that a little bit at a time, I can let go of the chaos and live my life more simply, and more fully.

I've been thinking about my word for the year too. I'm having a hard time trying to narrow it down: organize, simplify, create, serve, cherish - so many to choose from!

I hope to get it narrowed down as I planned on writing about it tomorrow.

What a great word!
Maybe 'Family' will be mine. I need to make sure I focus on them, not the house and other tasks~ just to enjoy my babies and hubby in 2009!!!
Simplify goes hand in hand with that. Heck~ maybe I need more than one word plastered throughout my home! ;)
So, are you headed to Nashville with Jeni to run?!?
Merry almost 2009 sweetie.
Hugs and Cheers~ Les

I can't remember if that was my word last year or the one I wanted this year, lol. Great word though!

Stop by my blog, I have something for you :)

That's a great word for the new year. I'm also hoping that BABIES will be a word for the new year. I want everyone I know to have babies this year to counteract all the sadness from last year.

You do so well at "perfecting" things--if you master simple and perfect at the same time I totally want to know your secret!

Your old rental house has piles of snow about 6 feet deep on either side of the driveway. I bet you wish you were here. (ha ha!)

I am trying "simplify" as my word for the year as well. Simplify my basement stockpile :) Ha! We'll see how it goes! I am going to need signs all over the house to remind myself. Hey did I tell you that I know Jenny Carr? We were in the same ward in CA before we moved to UT.
