I've been sorting through my files and going through stacks of old magazines and I came across a really cute idea by C.D. Muckosky in Creating Keepsakes. She took a large chipboard star and covered it with sewn on buttons in different shades of green and framed it. SO DANG cute. We're needing a few new St. Patrick's Day decorations, so I used the same idea. I went through my button stash, pulled out all my green buttons, lightly traced a shamrock shape onto a piece or corrugated cardstock, sewed the buttons on and then attached the cardstock to a painted and sanded block.
Top 'o the mornin' to ya!

What a good idea! I am a button collector...so this is right up my alley!
Amber,
Your project is darling, as always!
Love all of your goodies!!!
Irish blessings to you my fellow non chocolate eater! ;)

Very cute!
Cute - I don't have any St. Patricks day decor! I could do this.
as a st. patty's baby, i just love shamrock stuff! very fun idea.
SO cute! I love this idea! And it would work for any other season too (I'm picturing a colorful button egg for Easter!).
Cool! There would be so many things for all the different holidays this idea would work...thanks for sharing.
LOVE this idea!!!
I saw a similar idea at pottery barn kids. They used buttons to make a butterfly on a lrge cork board to hang in a girls room. Love the button ideas!
You don't know me, and I honestly can't remember how I ended up on your blog awhile back, but I just wanted to tell you that I think you have an amazing talent, and it is so fun to see your ideas! One day maybe I'll have the creativity and energy to do a few decorative projects of my own! (I especially LOVED the bedroom makeover! AMAZING!) Have a great day!

Hmmmm, now you have me looking at my button stash in a whole new light.
Well I am going to start collecting buttons now - for sure! Super cute.
