Ever since my mom and I redecorated our downstairs guest suite, I have been on the look-out for a great, shabby chic dresser to go in the room. My mom, who stays in the guest suite occasionally, suggested it would be nice to have a place to unpack a little...make it feel more like home. And after looking around I found one I really liked. In my Pottery Barn catalog. For $799. Plus $50 shipping. Because heaven forbid they actually have it in stock at my Pottery Barn in town. Sheesh.
About 3 weeks ago, Anna and I had a few minutes and were perusing our favorite antique warehouse in town. And we found this really cool dresser. But I didn't want to buy it until I talked to Tony about it. (He unfortunately seems to notice new pieces of large furniture.) But before I got a chance, I got a coupon in the mail for the very antique warehouse where we had found the dresser. So I went back and bought it. For all of $65. I brought it home, gave it a good rubdown with a magic eraser, and added Target clearance pewter knobs. Not exactly Pottery Barn, but not too bad.

It may not be exact, but I think it's about as close as you could get! Gorgeous! And what an amazing price!
I happen to like yours better because of the two smaller drawers on top. Great find!
I would never pay Pottery Barn prices. Well, I dream that I could, but I'm not sure if I would. YOur dresser looks awesome. Lucky you.
I love a great redo of furniture it looks so great!!
Man those look almost the same! I like the character your has even better than the pottery barn.
Very thrifty! I think it looks better than the Pottery Barn one.
great find! i'm always looking and longing at just about everything at PB...but it always feels great to stick-it to them and their high prices. yours looks great!
I was at that antique store and saw a piece of furniture with a sold tag - saying Amber. I was wondering if it was you! What a find! It looks great in the room.
I think you did better!!! Awesome find and great price!!
I can't believe how much your new dresser looks like the very expensive one! Good job. I am
looking at the picture and deciding which drawers I will put my things in when I visit.

I'm back and I loved catching up with your blog hun! Wow! You've got some cute projects you're made, as usual!
Now, I love the dresser you found way better than the PB one actually. It has character and is neat!
Happy belated bday to your little man. I love the post you did with things he does right now. I think Joshua and Caroline would get along great~ they sound a lot alike!
Love your new header. It's cute Amber!
Did I read somewhere that you're moving this summer or am I getting you mixed up with someone else?
Happy day wishes sweetie.
Love and hugs, Les
I love it! I must be honest and say that I like it even better than the Pottery Barn one! It is so similar, too, but the price is MUCH better! :)
Teri and I (Tonia's sister) are wondering about your dinner planning white board charts from last year's posts. Can you take a big picture so we can lift your idea?! Your link doesn't work anymore... Thanks!
You're amazing! We are sick with envy over here at how crafty and organized you are! Teri and I were on the phone together just complaining and ooh/ahh-ing over your pics! Thanks for your quick response! Can't wait to get started!
I had to do a double take to see the differences. They look almost identical and I'm sure yours is better because it has a history.
Better than Pottery Barn, Amber! Love the dresser! Nice touch with the pewter knobs. Doesn't a good deal just make your heart sing?
I love your new dresser! Would have snapped it up in a heartbeat and tried to sneak it home before hubby realized. I mean, he doesn't even notice my haircut until 2 weeks later, so I figure I've got a shot :)
Terrific find!
you definitely have a nitch for things like this. What a still and it is simply darling.
Are you kidding me? That dresser rocks! Holy perfect!
