Just Peachy

One of the wonderful things about living in Washington is the FRUIT! Since so much of it is grown in the state, it is fairly inexpensive and very fresh. The day before Joan arrived, I bought a flat of peaches at the commissary for $8. Seriously. And from that flat, Joan and I canned 13 quarts of peaches to enjoy this winter.
And then today, I used the peels to make 4 half pints of peach honey from a recipe I found here. Look at that color!

I feel so...peachy!

Hey I thought you were the apple state.

MMM that honey looks divine! That would surely sweeten up a cup of hot tea.

All right already - everyone is canning but me. I found a wonderful recipe for Peach Jam made with pineapple and I'm going to have to get going on it this weekend. Yours looks so yummy and I am going to make the honey with the peels! Thanks so much for the wonderful idea.

That peach honey looks so good. I can't believe you got all those peaches for such a good price. Last year we bought a bunch from the church's cannery, but they just don't taste as good as the home bottled ones!

Yummy! I am jealous, $8.00 - and also about your trip with no kids! Sounds like you really aren't missing us, are you?? ;)

mmmm....we picked up a box of peaches when we drove through Spokane last month. I meant to can them, but they were all eaten within a week.

Peach honey?! Who would have thought to do that! So smart! I love fresh and local produce too! Although, we pay so much more here!
