She Shoots! She Scores!

The boys were only interested in swimming this Spring, but Anna was all about soccer! I could handle the two weekly practices, but Tony (with his killer competitive edge) took her to all the games while I had the boys at swimming. Again, she was the only little girl on her team but after the first week of teasing, she got tough and kept up pretty well with the boys. Tony told her that every time she scored, he'd give her $5 but she hadn't done it yet. So on Wednesday night while Tony and Sam were at the church (they moved her last game to mid-week so it wouldn't mess with Memorial Day plans) I got to take her to her game. And after 6 games, she scored a goal. And the crowd went wild!

And I was lucky enough to be there to see it.

Thought of the Day

Sometimes it takes a house full of 4-year-old boys to remind us...

...that it's a "dinosaur eat explorer guy" world out there.

Sam is Famous!

Tony was at his office PT this morning and a lady from the public relations office came up to him and said that Sam was going to be on the front page of the Fairchild Flyer which is the weekly newspaper for the base and the surrounding communities. So when Tony got to work, he picked up a copy and sure enough, there is Sam on the front cover looking in a microscope during his time at the 4th grade overnight at Camp Reed! I'm sure they picked him because he is so smart and handsome. Being a proud mama, I grabbed a stack for family and friends and various strangers I might run into. I told Sam that he must be pretty special...
...his picture was in color. And above the fold.

May Visiting Teaching Gifts

Two months ago my visiting teaching companion moved to Hawaii and I got a new partner and a whole new set of four ladies to visit. So fun! I love it when they mix it up a bit. This time, I got a little spoiled because my companion also likes to give little gifts when we go visiting so I only have to come up with a little something every other month. It was my turn in May and since it has been a late, cold, rainy Spring here (my tulips only opened about a week ago) I focused on the "May flowers" part of life and found these darling little sugar cookies at WalMart. I repackaged them, found a quote, and used a ribbon laced through the eye of a clip to attach the quote.

Grandma's Mother's Day Gift

This year for Mother's Day, my mom said she didn't want anything. She just had her birthday in April and we sent her something from us girls and she thought that was enough. But then, my sister had a brilliant idea. She had each of us sisters take a picture of our kids (or Molly in Megan's case) holding a letter in the word "grandma" and email the photos to April. She printed them all, found a beautiful frame, and voila! Now each year for Mother's Day, we can update the photos and she can enjoy watching the kids grow. (click on the picture to see it better)

Brilliant.

M&M Mother's Day Gift

Hello! Don't really know if my "blog-break" is all the way over yet, but I did want to post this cute idea that I came across for my Sunbeam class to give their moms on Mother's Day this Sunday. I found the original idea here and manipulated it to work for my class. I stapled the instructions below on the cute little snack packs of M&Ms (I used the small ones so that the game won't last 6 hours).

A Mom & Me Moment for Mother’s Day!

Directions: Find a quiet place where you can be alone with the special woman of the day…your mom! Then, open the top of your M&Ms bag. Take turns picking an M&M candy from the bag without looking. Look at the list below for the directions that match the color you drew. Ask the other person your question. Have a fun time with your mom!

Blue: What is one of your favorite things to do with me?
Yellow: Tell me a story about a good day that you had.
Green: Tell me about a bad day that you had.
Brown: What is one of your favorite things to eat?
Red: What is something you really love about me?
Orange: Hum a song and I’ll try to guess what it is!

Happy Mother’s Day!
