Finding the Bright Spot

My baby napped a mere 45 minutes today. It is near-blizzard conditions outside with blowing snow and winds that are knocking stuff over. I have seven loads of laundry to fold and put away. Yes, I said seven. Anna has decided that it's super cute to talk in baby-talk. All.the.time. The tips of my fingers and toes are splitting because of the dry air. I have a house to clean and organize before we leave on our trip Saturday morning. Not to mention the inevitable packing. And probably even more laundry.

Is there a bright spot to my day? Maybe not yet...but there will be in about 3 hours when I walk into my bedroom, flip on my lamp, turn on my heating pad, and see this.

Sometimes, all you need is one little bright spot to make the day okay.

In about three hours - that is a much needed time for mommy in our home. Hope you enjoy it!

ooh...I hope you are enjoying that bright spot, right now. The only thing that would make that spot any better would be a warm mug of cider.

Hope tomorrow is better! :)

yeah, your day sounds shockingly like mine...minus the 7 loads of laundry (just 4)! i'm so glad it's over.

for your cracked fingers, go to walgreens and buy a spray called "new skin". it stinks like nail polish remover, but it has totally helped mine out. i also bought some finger tip bandaids. for your heels, go to JB's salon/day spa on 96th and giles and invest in a nickel-plated foot scrubber AND "rescue me" intensive foot repair from "get fresh". NOTHING else has worked but this.

'hope tomorrow's a better one! enjoy your books :-).

That is a bright spot- I am seriously lacking anything good to read. I must get to a library & soon.
The only one that I've read from your pile is The Shipping News. It was interesting.

As for the cracking hands- I keep a tube of neosporin by my bed. I always put the neosporin on all the little cuts & cracks and then finish off with a good lotion(one without perfumes or scents. It usually does the trick after 2 or 3 applications of the neosporin.

Your 7 loads of laundry to fold makes me feel better about my 5 :-)

Hope it all worked out!!! Hopefully you had a nice night and woke up for an easier day today.

I am home with a sick little guy today. It's nice to have one on one time. Until I had a boy I never knew how sweet they are.

You crack me up, girl! I feel your pain, but not for the leaving on vacation bit. I hope it gets better, and you are able to chill! Isn't this weather crazy?

It's funny that we look forward to reading and a quiet moment when we have kids. It what keeps us sane, though.
PS Cute, Cute b-day party!

Tough day! I admire you for finding a bright spot. I have found that Neosporin really helps with the finger cracks. 3M also has a product that you paint on the crack like fingernail polish, but you have to reapply it after a few hand washes.

I hope today is better day! :-)

All that Annie Proulx! I just love her rawness and sense of character—especially in her short stories. But there is the rawness factor that is nice to know going in. Have you read much of her before?

Here's to bright spots.

Emily...I haven't read ANY of her books before, but one of my friends gave me a stack to read because she loved them so much. I've been wanting to read The Shipping News...Thanks for the heads up!

Bubba is teething this week, so I feel the same as you--I put him down at night, put my pj's on, turn my heating pad on and actually get giddy to enjoy a great read. It really has been the only bright spot of my days this week. I love knowing that I have gotten through another day sane and in one piece. Can't wait to see you on Sunday!

Oh yeah. Now THAT'S a bright spot! You really are a girl after my own heart. Nothing better than a good book (or books!!!). Happy reading.

Owen does the baby talk thing, too. Drives Tyler absolutely bonkers!

A day like that sounds very familiar. The birthday party you threw for your son looks incredible. It makes me with my 4 year old was into Davy Crocket, maybe in a few years.

It's always tough for me to find a bright spot in January. Looks like you did a good job, though! Enjoy!!
