Are You KIDDING Me?

The good news is that school was cancelled and Sam got to stay home and play with us today. The bad news is why. With wind chill, the temperature outside is a balmy -28 degrees. As in 28 degrees BELOW zero. At least there's a little sunshine outside to go with our frostbite. So we've spent the day working on art projects, doing puzzles, watching cartoons (Wonder Pets is too cute) and pretty much destroying the basement.

Yes, that is the family tent, and yes, it is set up in our basement. That's what happens when mom gets a night off and daddy's in charge.

Have a good one...and stay bundled up!

Lady, you have absolutely NO idea how pleased I am to see your basement messy. : ) Looks like a fun day!! We were watching the same show! The phone...the phone is ringing....sing it with me! Thanks for sharing.

Atleast they canceled your school. And we have a tent set up in our basement too. The boys love it and as long as I don't have to see it I'm good.

As marisa said, at least they cancelled it! During our -25 degree weather, our local newspaper reported that the school board won't even CONSIDER cancelling school unless it gets to at least 40 below; and even then, they would only consider it.

At least you have a basement to mess up. Here in California (earthquakes, I suppose) there's simply your family room or any other room with walls to destroy with legos and dollies.

Great blog. I'll check back for more.

The blogosphere is a small and crazy world.
We moved into the medical lake ward JUST after you left, Jen Carr introduced me to "Amber's Potato cheese soup" which slowly became known as "Jenny's potato cheese soup" and after they left it evolved into MY potato cheese soup recipe.
I saw you over on My Ice Cream Diary and thought "There's no way that's the same person". I pop over here and there's Jen as your very first commentor!
This must all sound terribly odd coming from a complete stranger, but I just wanted to say thanks for the recipe that I greatly adore!! Hope you don't mind if I keep checking in!

We had a fun "cold day" too! We made pancakes and went to the library.

I'm laughing b/c Connor begged to set up the tent in our basement last night. His plan was to live in the tent, so he didn't have to clean up his room. We are such mean parents, we said no.

Holy crap! That's coooold. I am so ready for spring to arrive! You live in Omaha, right? That's where my Brother and his family live.

Now that looks like some fun!
Yikes...that is cold! We were in the 60's...outside with no jackets jumping on the trampoline in the middle of Feb. Believe me we are not taking it for granite...we are enjoying everyday of our assignment here in Atlanta.

Love, Jeni

Sounds like a great day! Glad you stayed in. Don't we wish there was a self cleaning button for the basement?!!?

Burrr....I almost feel bad that we're having such a beautiful day here (it's mid 50s!) - but I'm glad you had a fun day with all of the kids at home! :) Miss ya!

Ying and Yang. Opposition in all things. Balance. That's why we have moms AND dads. At the park moms usually say, "Be careful" and dads will say something like, "That's not very high-go to the top and jump-I'll catch you!" Moms clean the basement and dads have a great time messin' it up w/ the kids. Sounds like great fun!

So glad I'm not the only one with a room that looks like that. :0) I think the tent addition is wonderfully creative. An indoor campout. I might have to try it out sometime. We'd have to go buy a tent first though...
